Mise en place.
The literal definition is “put in place”. To prep and assemble your ingredients, pans, utensils and other needs for a dish or service.
Though I struggled with being “white gloved” and perfect through childhood to appease others. I later became quite a bit messy in adulthood as an act of rebellion-or freedom. Depends how you choose to see it. It is now evident that having things aligned before you begin a recipe saves time and removes most opportunities for mistakes.
So read the recipe, gather your ingredients, get your gadgets, and be prepared. Purpose to create a dish swirled with love, not frustration. You’ll be thankful for it later.
